As stated in our Copyright Policy, Ancestry® respects the intellectual property rights of others and appropriately responds to substantiated claims.

In compliance with the U.S. (the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”)) and international copyright laws (e.g., the Copyright Act of Canada and the Australian Copyright Act), Ancestry® has implemented notice and takedown procedures to facilitate the removal of content reported to us by the content’s owner or owner’s authorized agent as violating the owner’s copyrights. Ancestry, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, may terminate the accounts of users who have been identified as repeat infringers of any intellectual property rights of others, including copyright.

Copyright owners who believe they have a valid claim under copyright must submit a Takedown Notice before we will remove the allegedly infringing content. Accordingly, please complete and submit the Takedown Notice webform, ensuring that it includes all of the following information:

Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, and the basis of the claim;
Identification of the content which is claimed to be infringing, including the URL;
Full contact information of the claimed copyright owner or other claimant (who must have a license which is being infringed or other standing to make the claim), including name, address, telephone, fax, and email information;
A statement that the claimant believes in good faith that the use of the allegedly infringing content is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law (e.g., as a fair use);
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information sent is accurate and the complaining party is the owner or an authorized agent of the owner; and
A physical or electronic signature of the claiming party.

Please note that Takedown Notices submitted through this webform are only to be used to address copyright infringement claims and are not the proper means for reporting other non-copyright legal claims (such as issues related to trademark, defamation, or privacy) or violations of Community Rules, Terms and Conditions, etc. Takedown Notice submissions containing knowing and material misrepresentations may be subject to legal sanctions.
